Gemma Pinyol-Jiménez
Head of Migration Policies

Gemma Pinyol-Jiménez is Head of Migration Policies at Instrategies and associate researcher at GRITIM-Pompeu Fabra University. She is member of the Advisory Board at the Intercultural Cities-Council of Europe and coordinator of RECI-Spanish Network of Intercultural Cities. She is also lecturer in the Department of Political Science and Public Law at the UAB

She was Head of Cabinet of the Spanish Secretariat of Immigration and Emigration (2010-2012), project manager at the Council of Europe and Head of the Research Programme on International Migration at CIDOB (2001-2010). She has been involved in several European projects and she has been appointed as an expert for the Committee of the Regions and the Economic and Social Committee in different opinions.

Her main areas of interest are the Spanish and EU migration instruments, the external dimension of migration policies, as well as Spanish migration policies and multilevel governance of migration and integration and inclusion issues.

She holds a PhD in Political Science and International Relations (Extraordinary Doctorate Award) from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, a degree in Political Science from the Autonomous University of Barcelona and a MA in political Analysis from the UOC.
